Following a last-second upset loss to Cornell in last year's NCAA Tournament, it felt like Michigan State hockey would never win another national title.
The Spartans had just locked up another Big Ten regular-season title (their second straight) and looked like arguably the best team in the country. Many believed the Spartans were about to make a run to the Frozen Four, avenging the previous season's NCAA Tournament loss to Michigan.
Unfortunately, Adam Nightingale's team just didn't have the juice against Cornell, surrendering an early lead to lose with 10 seconds left on a power-play goal.
The good thing about last season, though, is the fact that it's in the past.
