EAST LANSING — Drew Beesley told Mel Tucker to circle the Michigan game.
Never mind that Michigan State football’s defensive end sat on a stretcher after being carted off Spartan Stadium a month earlier. Beesley planned to make his return from an injury in the rivalry game.
“Beesley told me weeks ago," he said, ‘I want to be a captain for the Michigan game,’” Tucker said Saturday. “I didn't list him on social media, because we weren't sure he was gonna be able to make it.”
Yet there was the sixth-year senior, leading the Spartans out of the tunnel Saturday and starting his final rivalry game.
