Michigan State football's shines in 40-21 win over Maryland; Ohio State is next

EAST LANSING — The Michigan State offense flexed its muscle and kept the Big Ten title hopes alive.

Payton Thorne threw for 287 yards and four touchdowns and Kenneth Walker III rushed for 143 yards and two TDs as the Spartans beat Maryland, 40-21, on Saturday at Spartan Stadium.

Jayden Reed had eight catches for 114 yards and two touchdowns as MSU (9-1, 6-1 Big Ten) stayed in a tie for first in the Big Ten East with Ohio State. Those two teams play next Saturday in Columbus, Ohio.
