Michigan State football's QB Payton Thorne to start second straight game at Maryland

Payton Thorne will start Saturday for Michigan State football when it travels to Maryland to wrap up the regular season, coach Mel Tucker said Tuesday.

The redshirt freshman got his first start in Saturday’s 39-24 loss at Penn State, completing 22 of 39 passes with three touchdowns and an interception. His 325 yards passing set MSU records for both for a first-time starter and a freshman.
