Michigan State football's new coordinators maneuvering 'unique' yet familiar transition

Jay Johnson and Scottie Hazelton went through it a year ago, adjusting to new jobs with different players and environments.

Mel Tucker’s new offensive and defensive coordinators both believe those recent experiences make helped prepare them to move on to Michigan State football and do it all over again – despite the late-offseason timing of their hires and the complexities in coaching presented by the coronavirus pandemic shutdown.

“Yeah, it's not easy to make it again a year later, but I think it helps us all,” Johnson said Wednesday on a conference call with reporters.
