Football is pretty simple.
When you can’t stop the run, you usually lose.
When you throw three interceptions in one half, you usually lose.
When you give up a punt return for a touchdown, you are in a heap of trouble.
And when you do all three? You get your butt kicked.
Which is what happened on Saturday when Iowa crushed Michigan State, 49-7.

Maybe that wasn’t clear and obvious when the Spartans beat Michigan — because that was a bad team playing against another bad team — but it was clear at Kinnick Stadium.
