EAST LANSING — Success is relative.
When Michigan State entered the Mark Dantonio era in 2007, it was coming out of a putrid phase of football. Just getting bowl eligible was a victory, so his 7-6 season felt like an epiphany.
But perception changes. And what was once a success can become stagnation or a step back when the bar has been elevated.
