Michigan State football's Brandon Sowards steps up as WR injuries mount

EAST LANSING — On a day where three wide receivers — Darrell Stewart Jr., Jalen “Speedy” Nailor and Cam Chambers — were all out because of various injuries, fifth-year senior Brandon Sowards knew the snaps would come.

Wide receivers coach Terrence Samuel told Sowards that much, getting him mentally prepared ahead of game day. And so, a year after a torn ACL wiped out his entire 2017 season, Sowards saw a wealth of playing time in the 31-20 win over Central Michigan on Saturday.
