TEMPE, Ariz. — The ball kept going in the air downfield. Michigan State’s vaunted defense kept giving up big chunks of yardage. The opposing crowd roared louder and louder.
When the Spartans got the ball back, more mistakes. Penalties at inopportune times and ineffectiveness that continued to plague them.
It all contributed to MSU’s first loss of the season, leaving many wondering if the Spartans could get things together.
