Michigan State football socked by Penn State, 28-7, to extend losing streak on soggy day

EAST LANSING — Michigan State football’s offense came out as listless as it did at Wisconsin two weeks ago. Its defense continued to struggle as well.

The only difference was the constant rain and the opponent.

No. 6 Penn State’s Sean Clifford threw three first-half touchdown passes, as the Spartans’ losing streak climbed to three games with a 28-7 defeat on Saturday at Spartan Stadium.

It was the third straight loss to a top-10 opponent for MSU (4-4, 2-3 Big Ten), which gets its second bye in three weeks before hosting resurgent Illinois on Nov. 9.
