EAST LANSING — As Michigan State football quarterback Brian Lewerke floated a pass to Cody White streaking deep, a cheer of anticipation bubbled from the crowd. The ball glanced off White’s left hand, and after he fell down hard, a hush fell over Spartan Stadium.
White rolled on the ground in pain before walking to the sideline to get checked on by trainers.
