Michigan State football grades: Offense creates juice, defense makes right adjustments

NEW YORK – Chris Solari rates Michigan State football on a scale of 1 to 10 after the Spartans’ 27-21 win in the Pinstripe Bowl against Wake Forest on Friday at Yankee Stadium:

Offense: 8

There will be plenty of what-ifs after one of the more solid performances by MSU’s offense this season, particularly with graduating QB Brian Lewerke’s ability to throw quick, short passes with receivers using their speed in space, and extending the field with four throws of 20-plus yards, including a season-long 64-yarder to Trenton Gillison.
