Michigan State football gets commit from legacy recruit Antonio Gates Jr.

Michigan State football got a "yes" from a familiar name on Monday.

Dearborn Fordson wide receiver Antonio Gates Jr. announced on social media that he was committing to join MSU's recruiting class of 2022.

Gates is the son of former Detroit Central star Antonio Gates, who began his college career as a football and basketball hopeful with the Spartans.

He eventually left MSU, starred in basketball at Kent State, and then become of the most prolific tight ends in NFL history.

Gates' namesake is already a four-star recruit at Fordson entering his senior season.
