Michigan State football gets Adam Berghorst, who passes on pro baseball

Michigan State football – and baseball – had reason to sigh in relief on Sunday.

Adam Berghorst announced on Twitter that he would play for the Spartans in the fall and not the Texas Rangers, who drafted him in 14th round of the MLB draft last month.

Berghorst wrote: "Honored to be drafted by the @Rangers in the MLB Draft but after many prayers and thoughts I will still continue my plan of furthering my education and football and baseball career at Michigan State University!"

The 6-foot-7, 265-pound defensive end/pitcher just graduated from Zeeland East and accepted a scholarship from MSU football in February.
