EAST LANSING — Extra bowl practices are vital to a football program’s development. And Michigan State football needs all the work it can get this month.

Beyond their 6-6 record going into a Pinstripe Bowl matchup against Wake Forest, the Spartans are preparing to lose at least seven starters on defense, along with starting quarterback Brian Lewerke and wide receiver Darrell Stewart.
