EAST LANSING — It was supposed to be a grand unveiling of a changed Michigan State offense, something kept as secretly guarded as nuclear codes or Jimmy Hoffa’s location.

Sure, it looked a little different. Especially that first possession that generated a touchdown, albeit penalty-aided, and looked somewhat dynamic.

But the Spartans’ woeful production remained eerily reminiscent of last year’s recalled model.

Thankfully, it was only woeful Tulsa on the other side. And the Spartans’ defense dominated.

No. 20 MSU set a school record by holding the Golden Hurricane to minus-73 yards rushing, breaking a 69-year-old record.
