Michigan State Football: Can Spartans get over Northwestern hurdle?

Northwestern is breaking in a new quarterback, Clemson transfer Hunter Johnson. In his only collegiate start, he was 21-of-27 for over 200 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. It’s difficult to know how good Johnson will be, however, head coach Pat Fitzgerald has done much more with less.

The Wildcats will once again nickel and dime the Spartans like they’re known to do but Michigan State will have Josiah Scott back. The Spartan defense will be even better than last season, if healthy, and will challenge Johnson.

The Clemson transfer will rely on sophomore running back Isaiah Bower who carried the rock for over 800 yards rushing after taking over for Jeremy Larkin.
