Michigan State football adds Courtney Hawkins to Mel Tucker's staff

EAST LANSING — Courtney Hawkins is coming home to Michigan State football. The former standout wide receiver with the Spartans and in the NFL will coach wide receivers as part of Mel Tucker’s new coaching staff.

Hawkins, 50, played for George Perles from 1988 to 1991 at MSU and spent nine years in the NFL with Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh. He has been the football coach and athletic director at his alma mater Flint Beecher since 2006.
