Michigan State Football: 3 takeaways from bowl-clinching Maryland win

No one expected it to be this close, but Michigan State came away with a 19-16 win over Maryland in East Lansing on Saturday to reach bowl eligibility.

It wasn’t pretty or even somewhat easy on the eyes, but Michigan State got the job done and the defense stepped up when it mattered most late in the fourth quarter.

Also, Brian Lewerke stepped up after a horrible start, finishing 30-for-40 with nearly 350 yards and a rushing touchdown to help the Spartans move the ball against the Terrapins consistently.

What’d we learn from the Spartans’ tussle with Maryland?
