Michigan State failed to protect students, patients from Nassar, state House inquiry finds

Michigan State University failed to protect students and patients from Larry Nassar as he systemically abused patients at the university and elsewhere over decades in practice, a state House inquiry has found.

The House members tasked with investigating the university's involvement in the Nassar scandal, led by state Reps. Klint Kesto and Kim LaSata, released a six-page letter Thursday afternoon detailing how gaps in MSU's policies allowed Nassar to exploit the power he held over patients.

"After reviewing the evidence, there is absolutely no doubt that Michigan State University failed to adequately protect students and patients on campus," Kesto said in a statement.
