Michigan State defense wants more fumbles via 'ball disruption'

Michigan State's defense won the first scrimmage of preseason camp, and the Spartans' offense - in particular QB Brian Lewerke - wants to play better.

EAST LANSING — Chuck Bullough returned to Michigan State football with a mission: Help force more turnovers.

Watch some of the clips of the Spartans’ defensive drills in practice and you’ll see it. Players are focusing on getting their hands on the ball and trying to rip it free from whoever has it.

“He brought in some new drills, he brought in a new emphasis,” defensive coordinator Mike Tressel said of Bullough, a former MSU player who took over as defensive ends coach this spring.
