EAST LANSING — Everybody has a bad day.

For Michigan State football’s secondary, that day was Saturday, as Indiana quarterback Michael Penix Jr. torched the Spartans for 286 yards — 311 if you exclude the final play lateral that went for an MSU score — and three touchdowns on 33-for-42 passing, utilizing bubble screens and quick throws to keep MSU guessing.
