Michigan State bludgeoning Curtis Blackwell with 'sheer power, money and resources,' attorneys say

GRAND RAPIDS – A federal magistrate judge is effectively setting Curtis Blackwell up as the "scapegoat" for Michigan State University's actions, the former university employee's lawyers argue in a new court filing.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Sally Berens in March recommended a district court judge dismiss Blackwell's wrongful termination lawsuit.

In a Friday filing, Blackwell's attorneys call Berens' order "fatally flawed and illogical" and say she "has thrown the book at (Blackwell) and his counsel, seemingly blaming them for the massive amount of negative press and publicity that MSU has received.
