EAST LANSING — For the better part of the 2021 calendar year, a subsegment of Michigan State basketball fans treated Joey Hauser like a pariah.
In an instant Wednesday, he became a hero.
Hauser’s layup with 0.1 second to play extended the ninth-ranked Spartans’ win streak to nine games, delivering a 71-69 victory with perhaps his biggest moment in his two seasons in green and white.
Complete with a full-court chase-down from the entire MSU bench after Hauser turned A.J. Hoggard’s thread-the-needle pass into a game-winning basket just before the final buzzer.
