EAST LANSING — Cassius Winston’s big week returned him to the national spotlight.
The Michigan State basketball senior was named the Naismith Trophy men’s player of the week on Monday after averaging 26.5 points, 7.5 assists, three rebounds and a steal in home victories over Illinois and Michigan.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound point guard scored a career-high 32 points on 11 of 19 shooting with nine assists in Sunday’s 87-69 win over the Wolverines. He had 25 points and six assists in Thursday’s 76-56 win over the Illini.
