EAST LANSING — The Michigan State basketball team's run at No. 1 in the AP Top 25 is over, the Spartans falling to No. 5 in the poll as released on Monday.
The Spartans' enjoyed a program-record four weeks in the top spot, eclipsing the three-week run at No. 1 from the team featuring Adreian Payne, Gary Harris, Keith Appling, Travis Trice and Branden Dawson two years ago.
Kansas (12-1), a team MSU beat 79-73 on Nov. 17 in Chicago, is the new No. 1, followed by Oklahoma (12-0), Maryland (13-1) and Virginia (12-1).
North Carolina (14-2), Arizona (13-1), Providence (14-1), Kentucky (11-3) and Xavier (13-1) round out the top 10.
