Michigan State basketball faces WMU to sharpen up before Big Ten play

EAST LANSING — The long break is over.

The 16th-ranked Michigan State basketball team hosts Western Michigan at 8 p.m. Sunday in its final nonconference game of the season. It is a return to action for MSU (9-3) for the first time in eight days, its longest break of the season.

“We're moving forward after this,” coach Tom Izzo said after the Spartans’ 101-48 home blowout of Eastern Michigan on Dec. 21. “We all know it's one game (against WMU) and then it's Big Ten time. But never could I explain how these six, seven or eight weeks have been.
