Michigan State basketball’s first test of the season, like it was a year ago, ended up in a defeat to Gonzaga.

The two schools met Saturday morning in Denver, where the Bulldogs defeated the Spartans, 103-87, in a “secret” scrimmage, per a source. They played two 20-minute periods in a game that was closed to the public and media.

Cassius Winston led MSU with 20 points and seven assists. Jeff Goodman of Stadium.com tweeted that the Spartans played without senior guard Joshua Langford, who is recovering from February foot surgery.
