One of Michigan's top prep basketball teams is not playing without one of its best players — which may be of great interest to Michigan State Spartans fans.
Ypsilanti Prep, led by star MSU commit Emoni Bates, played without four-star guard Jaden Akins in its last game Dec. 3 in Texas and was without him Saturday at the Holiday Hoopfest.
A source with direct knowledge of the situation said Akins is no longer playing with Ypsi Prep. The Free Press has not been able to confirm the reasoning for his departure.
