Another year, another ugly performance against Rutgers. Michigan State came out and looked sluggish but when the Spartans did get hot, the Scarlet Knights responded with 7-0 runs.
In the end, the Spartans pulled away and won 77-65 after fending off surge after surge by the Scarlet Knights.
Michigan State never seems to play the Scarlet Knights well and this was just another tight battle between the two sides. Rutgers just matched every run the Spartans put together and played solid defense, but Cassius Winston (23 points) was just too much.
