Michigan State baseball beats Rutgers, 6-4, avoids elimination from Big Ten tournament

OMAHA, Neb. — Brock Vradenburg went 2-for-3, including a program-record tying 22nd double, and Michigan State baseball edged Rutgers, 6-4, on Thursday in the Big Ten tournament.

Eighth-seeded Michigan State (33-21) earned its first victory in the conference tournament since 2016 (in its first appearance since 2018) and will play again at 8 p.m. Friday against the loser of Thursday's late game between top-seeded Maryland and fourth-seeded Nebraska. MSU lost to Maryland on Tuesday night. Rutgers (33-23), which made the conference final last year, lost both of its games in this year's tournament.
