Michigan State athletic director Bill Beekman issued a strong statement in support of Tom Izzo after more allegations from ESPN.
The TV network reported Thursday morning that Izzo spoke to a witness — the son of former Spartan All-American Steve Smith — during a 2017 criminal investigation in which walk-on Brock Washington eventually pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault.
“Tom Izzo has been a beacon of integrity in his profession for nearly four decades, including a quarter century as head coach,” Beekman said in a statement.
