Michigan State athletics debuts 'EverGreen' program to prepare for name, image, likeness

Michigan State athletics Thursday announced its plan to jump ahead of the name, image and likeness changes that appear to be coming soon.

The athletic department announced its EverGreen program, which focuses on four “pillars” for athletes to maximize their earning potential: brand, empower, educate and innovate

MSU formed an athletic department-wide committee more than a year ago. Darien Harris, the football program’s director of player engagement and former team captain in 2015, took the reins to get the school’s coaches and athletes prepared for the name, image and likeness rules that appear to be coming sooner rather than later — even though no one is exactly sure on when, the specifics and if it will be coming from the federal government, state lawmakers, the NCAA or the Big Ten.
