Michigan State alumni director resigns in wake of Title IX complaint

The head of Michigan State University's alumni association is resigning two months after a Title IX complaint was filed against him, MSU has confirmed.

Scott Westerman -- the associate vice president for alumni relations and executive director of the MSU Alumni Association -- gave MSU a resignation letter on Monday, MSU spokeswoman Emily Guerrant said.

The resignation will be effective July 31.

"In this resignation letter Westerman indicated he will be moving to Florida to be closer to his family," Guerrant said.

The Title IX complaint was filed in February, Guerrant said. Westerman, 63, is currently under investigation by MSU's Office of Institutional Equity, which handles complaints involving discrimination and harassment.
