Just about any Michigan football or Michigan State football fan can boast about the basics of one of the country's oldest rivalries.
Plenty know that the Spartans' and Wolverines' meeting at noon Saturday will be the 113th between the two teams. It's pretty common knowledge that Michigan holds a large lead in the all-time series (71-36-5), but MSU has made it tighter (U-M has a 38-30-2 edge) since the Paul Bunyan Trophy was introduced in 1953. There's always someone to remind us that, over the last half-century, the run game runs the series, with the team who wins the rushing battle winning 45 of the last 50 meetings.
