Mark Dantonio sees benefits in sticking to change in spring game format

EAST LANSING - Heading into Michigan State's spring game last April, there was uncertainty at nearly every position on both sides of the ball following a 3-9 season.

That's not the case this year as the Spartans return 19 of 22 starters from a team that finished 10-3.

Although the outlook for today's spring game (5 p.m., BTN) at Spartan Stadium is vastly different than a year ago, the format is the same. For the second straight year, it will feature offense versus defense. Prior to last year, Michigan State split up the team with a draft.
