Former Michigan State football star Malik McDowell is facing a new round of legal troubles after being charged with driving while intoxicated, assaulting police officers and concealing a stolen truck stemming from two separate incidents earlier this year.

The former MSU defensive lineman was arraigned in Oakland County court and had a pretrial hearing Thursday for multiple felony charges racked up in two separate cases this year.

McDowell's court process also has been complicated after he recently left the state since being arrested.

Paul Walton, chief assistant to Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper, said McDowell, 23, will face an additional hearing on Wednesday to determine whether he violated a court order by leaving Michigan while facing multiple charges.
