EAST LANSING - With Michigan State on spring break last week, there were no classes to attend.
With a whole week between the Big Ten tournament and NCAA Selection Show, there was no opponent for the Spartans to prepare for.
Last week was an unusual start to March for Michigan State, which coach Tom Izzo described as strange, confusing and discombobulated. He also said the layoff for the No. 3 seed Spartans heading into Friday's NCAA Tournament opener against No. 14 Bucknell (7:10 p.m., CBS) remains a worry.
"It does just because I've never done it and I haven't talked to many guys that have done it, and the ones that have done it have done it at a lot lower level," Izzo said Sunday night.
