Roller coaster of events give Spartans three-score lead

Lombardi's first pass of the game falls incomplete. Connor Heyward picks up 6 yards with a second-down run.
Lombardi's throw on third down is batted at the line and picked off by Maryland lineman Jahrvis Davenport. Darrell Stewart Jr. chases Davenport down and punches the ball out just before the goal line. Matt Dotson recovers the ball in the end zone for a touchback.
All things considered, that's a 10-yard gain for the Spartans. Connor Heyward breaks loose on the very next play from scrimmage and goes 80 yards to give Michigan State a three-score lead.
