EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State junior quarterback Brian Lewerke and senior running back LJ Scott have been named to the 2018 Maxwell Award Watch List, the Maxwell Football Club announced on Monday. The Maxwell Award has been presented to college football's player of the year since 1937.

In his first full year as the starting quarterback, Lewerke set MSU sophomore records for total offense (3,352 yards), passing yards (2,793), passing attempts (417) and passing completions (246). He also finished the season with 559 yards rushing on 124 carries, the fourth most by a Spartan quarterback in a single season and the most since Drew Stanton had 687 in 2004.
