Klages arraigned on charges of lying to a peace officer in Nassar investigation

Former Michigan State University gymnastics coach Kathie Klages was arraigned Thursday on two charges of lying to a peace officer.

Klages turned herself in on the charges earlier Thursday morning and was arraigned by Lansing 54-A District Court Judge Louise Alderson.

The charges are both for lying to a peace officer and are a felony and a misdemeanor - the felony charge is punishable by up to four years in prison and up to $5,000 in fines, and the misdemeanor charge is punishable by up to two years in prison and up to $5,000 in fines.

Klages was issued a $5,000 bond and was ordered not to travel outside the state of Michigan, and have no contact with witnesses or anyone connected with the case.
