Following one of the ugliest losses (based on overall play) since taking over at Michigan State, Jonathan Smith had a lot of questions to answer.
The second-year head coach lost his second straight game of the season, and the team look wildly unprepared in the first quarter on Saturday afternoon, falling behind 14-0 in the first eight minutes against Nebraska — unacceptable after a bye week.
While the Spartans probably should have beaten Nebraska thanks to a strong defensive effort that included five sacks and an interception, the offense just couldn’t do much of anything.
