Just when Ypsilanti Prep Academy looked ready to finish Lake Norman Christian, the Ospreys attacked.
With about 2 minutes left Saturday, Ypsi Prep and Emoni Bates, a five-star Michigan State basketball commit, led Lake Norman and Mikey Williams, 63-55. It was one of the largest leads of the day. Bates, the top junior in the country, threw down a monster dunk then found longtime teammate Javaughn Hannah for an open 3-pointer.
But Ypsi managed one more point as Lake Norman finished with a 13-1 run to win 68-64 at the Battle Basketball Showcase in Greenville, South Carolina (scroll down for highlights).
