Hawkeyes and Spartans alike reflect on competition at fan fest

Spartan fans came out to the Dr. Pepper Fan Fest today in masses to participate in the Big Ten Football Championship Game activities, which varied from a “Gridiron Grill” adult lounge to more than 15 family-friendly events for kids.

Young Spartan and Hawkeye fans were having a blast as events from Xbox 360 NCAA football matches to blow-up obstacles and even pickup basketball games were at their disposal.

Jace Vachaon, a 10-year-old from Macomb, Michigan, was in attendance with his dad and said playing basketball was his favorite activity.

“I scored 10 points,” Vachaon said.

As fans entered the venue, two projector screens formed a grand entrance and were playing MSU football games on one side and Iowa games on the other.
