Former MSU strength coach Todd Moyer sentenced to 7-15 years for causing deaths in crash

A former Michigan State strength coach will spend 7-15 years behind bars for causing the deaths of two people in a texting-and-driving case.

Todd Moyer was sentenced to 86 months to 15 years in prison on Thursday afternoon in Monroe County Circuit Court, according to WDIV.

The sentence comes a month after Moyer was convicted of two counts of reckless driving causing death. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

Those charges stem from a July 2017 crash in which police say Moyer rear-ended a car and killed a 35-year-old woman and her 5-year-old daughter

According to the Lansing State Journal, Moyer was texting up until moments before the crash.
