Messiah deWeaver's junior college experience resulted in a national title.
The former Michigan State quarterback helped lead East Mississippi Community College to a 10-9 win against Garden City Community College on Thursday night in the NJCAA national championship in Kansas.
It was the second straight national title for No. 1 EMCC (12-0) and the fifth in the last eight years for the program that was featured on the first two seasons of the Netflix series "Last Chance U."
deWeaver was 17-for-29 passing for 96 yards and had eight carries for 28 yards in Thursday's title game.
