Former Michigan State, Detroit Mackenzie basketball player Lovelle Rivers dies at 66

Lovelle Rivers, who played for Michigan State basketball from 1972 to 1976, died July 6, the team announced Friday. He was 66.

The cause of death is unknown.

Rivers, a 6-foot-6, 220-pound center, played 44 games (one start), recording 44 points and 89 rebounds. He made 16 of 24 shots, including 12 of 19 free throws. As a senior, he registered 32 points and 68 rebounds.
