Michigan State interim president John Engler did exactly what he said he wouldn't do Monday when he hired an insider for an outsider's job.
Or at least what he said should be an outsider's job.
But then, he's a politician, not an educator, and the thing he knows best is cynicism. As in: I'll say whatever sounds good, just don't hold me to it.
