Detroit Edison point guard Damiya Hagemann has committed to Michigan State, putting a huge smile on the face of longtime Spartans head coach Suzy Merchant.
“We’ve had a great bond,” said Hagemann of her relationship with Merchant. “She watched me play for the Michigan Crossovers (AAU Team) in the sixth grade.
“I like the talent that they have and their trapping fullcourt defense. It’s just a great fix for me.”
And, on her upcoming senior season?
“We’re going to be bigger and better than last year, go to Breslin and play for the state championship, and then I’ll go back to Breslin to play my college ball,” Hagemann said.
