The Spartans' loss at Washington two weeks ago was alarming. The defeat Minnesota last week a new low. Saturday’s 27-13 loss at Maryland was confirmation that MSU won’t overcome its shortcomings.

The Spartans weren’t awful in every way Saturday, like they were a week ago. They just were what they are. And that’s probably a 4-8 or 5-7 football team, with a chance to beat Wisconsin, Indiana and Rutgers in three of their four remaining home games.
